「即或不然」的勇氣

當希望快要幻滅；當黑暗重重掩蓋，前路變得黯淡無光；當成功無望，失敗像是惟一的結果，人在這樣的環境中，還有甚麼可倚仗？如何再重拾似乎已給消化了的信心和勇氣？

很喜愛電影Lord of the Rings ，其中有兩個片段猶為深刻......

第一段是在Helms Deep裡，當強獸人(Uruk Hai) 快要攻進主城堡，無路可逃，一切盼望都快將消失，King Theoden 及 Aragorn卻穿上盔甲，與數十戰騎一起向成千上萬的敵軍進攻... 「For Death and Glory, for Rohan, for your people... Now for wrath, now for ruin and the Red Dawn!」




第二段是在Mordor Blackgate，Aragorn帶著二千士兵挑戰城門內過萬魔軍。當城門打開，士兵看到敵眾我寡勝，軍心動搖，正要棄兵曳甲之際，Aragorn 就說了有名的 Speech at the Blackgate：

"Hold your ground! Hold your ground!
Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers,

I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me.
A day may come when the courage of men fails,
when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship,
but it is not this day.

An hour of wolves and shattered shields,
when the age of men comes crashing down,
but it is not this day!

This day we fight!!
By all that you hold dear on this good Earth,
I bid you stand,
Men of the West!!!



在成功和盼望都渺茫的時刻，讓人仍有擇善固執的勇氣，源於我們對美善之事和崇高理想之追求和捍衛。這讓我想起聖經裡但以理書中，但以理的三個朋友沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌因不跪拜尼布甲尼撒王的金像，快要被扔進烈火時，他們仍向著王說：「即便如此，我們所事奉的　神，能將我們從烈火的窰中救出來。王阿！祂也必救我們脫離你的手。即或不然，王阿，你當知道我們決不事奉你的神、也不敬拜你所立的金像。」

但願我在人生成功和盼望都渺茫的時刻，仍能擇善固執，仍有「即或不然」的信心和勇氣。
